Bread and Butter Pudding

1 hour Preparation, Make 6 servings

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 x Promise Gluten Free White Loaf
  • butter to spread
  • 21 fl oz milk
  • 14 fl oz cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 5 oz caster sugar
  • zest of 1 orange
STEPS
STEP 1

Pre-heat the oven to 360F.

STEP 2

Discard the ends of the loaves and butter the slices.

STEP 3

Pour the milk and cream into a saucepan and warm over a gentle heat. Whisk together the eggs and sugar until pale and then pour the warm milk and cream mixture over.

STEP 4

Arrange the bread in a oven dish overlapping them to fit. Pour over the custard and leave to sit for 15 minutes.

STEP 5

Place the dish in a larger oven dish, fill with boiling water to come up to halfway.

STEP 6

Sprinkle on the zest, cover with tin foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes.

STEP 7

Serve while hot.
